Riki’s “Marigold” is the leading single off Gold

Today Dais Records announced Riki’s 2nd album titled Gold.

The first single “Marigold” from the new record, Gold promises all of the new romantic synthpop we’ve come to love from Riki. Much like previous releases, the single is sincere and intimate. The duet creeps right into your soul and takes you back to memories of fond lovers and idyllic connections.

“Marigold” Lyrics

Baby, the thought of it
It’s at the tip of my tongue
It never lets me rest
Until you have me in your arms
I’ve got her wild, alright
It really turns me on
To give you what I’ve got
Like it’ll never come dawn

‘Cause when I ride your wave I get so hot that baby, I’m afraid I can never get enough

You say, honey you’re a flower you don’t need to be shy
Heaven’s all around you when you look me in the eye
When you’re pouring over working, I’ll make it my luck that you never run low before I fill your cup

Baby, with every breath
I’ve got your name on my tongue
It never lets me rest
Until I have you in my arms
I’ve got you wild, alright
He really turns me on
To give you what I’ve got
Like it’ll never come down

‘Cause when I ride your wave I get so hot that baby, I’m afraid I can never get enough

You say, honey you’re a flower you don’t need to be shy
Heaven’s all around you when you look me in the eye
When you’re pouring over working, I’ll make it my luck that you never run low before I fill your cup

Say, honey you’re a flower you don’t need to be shy
Heaven’s all around you when you look me in the eye
When you’re pouring over working, I’ll make it my luck that you never run low before I fill your cup

Say, honey you’re a flower you don’t need to be shy
Heaven’s all around you when you look me in the eye
When you’re pouring over working, I’ll make it my luck that you never run low before I fill your cup

Niff Nawor characterizes her lyrics as: “very much what’s going on in my life, things I wanted to say but didn’t have the platform.”

Gold – Riki

riki gold vinyl album

Gold is not as dancy as Riki’s debut self-titled album from 2020, but it is riveting and elegant. The production is crisp and clean; no surprise as this album was co-produced with Telefon Tel Aviv co-founder Josh Eustis.

The new full length is in stores worldwide on CD/LP on November 26th. Pre-order for the record is available now in 4 vinyl variants:

  • Gold Vinyl edition of 200
  • Red-In-Clear Vinyl edition of 400
  • Cloudy White Vinyl edition of 600
  • Standard Black Vinyl edition

Who is Riki?

riki marigold single
Niff Nawor is the creative powerhouse behind Riki. She is also a visual artist, which shines through in Riki’s live performances. Some of us remember her as the synth player in the California-based band Crimson Scarlet.

Niff got into goth and post-punk listening to Christian Death in high school, then later she was introduced to Nina Hagen and Toyah Wilcox. Side note, “Hold Me” is stated as Niff’s favorite Nina Hagan song. But it was her move to Oakland, California, that got Niff more involved in the goth, punk, post-punk scene.

Niff worked with Chelsey Crowley of Crimson Scarlet, Skot Brown of Phantom Limbs, and Peđaof Doomed to Extinction on her debut recording Hot City. She continues to collaborate extensively, lending vocals to this year’s Nuovo Testamento record New Earth. She also worked with INHALT’s Matia Simovich for the production of her self-titled record last year.
