Dry Cleaning – New Long Leg

Dry Cleaning is an English post-punk band from South London formed in 2018. The lineup is vocalist Florence Shaw, guitarist Tom Dowse, bassist Lewis Maynard, and drummer Nick Buxton. They primarily use spoken word instead of sung vocals.

 

Pigeon – Deny All Knowledge Of Complicity

Pigeon is a Berlin-based post-punk band ala Wire or The Gordons. They released their debut album in 2018, followed by an EP. Musically they range between furious noisy uptempo tracks and cold atmospheric, creepy stuff.

 

N0V3L – NON-FICTION

Nov3l is a five-piece political post-punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Their sound is dark post-punk, sometimes dancy new wave, and late-capitalist disco/funk.

 

Screensaver – Expressions Of Interest

screensaver is a synth-driven post-punk band from Melbourne, Australia. Expressions of Interest is their debut album. screensaver comprises Krystal Maynard on vocals/synth, Christopher Stephenson on guitar/synth, Giles Fielke on bass/synth, and James Beck on drums. The band is heavily influenced by music made between 1977 – 1982.

 

UV-TV – Always Something

UV-TV is a staple of the DIY post-punk scene, hailing from Queens, New York. Always Something is the band’s 3rd LP. The record contains original members Rose Vastola on vocals/guitars, Ian Bernacett on guitars, plus their latest recruit Ian Rose on drums. 

 

Oi Boys – Oi Boys

Oi Boys is a duo from Metz, France, with a full band for live performances. Their self-titled debut album explores French coldwave/post-punk sounds, with desolate lyrics about wandering around sad towns, having a last beer, and remembering lost friends.

 

Squid – Bright Green Field

Squid is a five-piece English post-punk band currently based in London. Bright Green Field is their debut album released by Warp Records in May 2021.

 

shame – Drunk Tank Pink

shame is an English post-punk band originally from South London. Drunk Tank Pink is their sophomore album released in January. The record is relentless and packed full of energy.

 

New Talk – Time & Memory

New Talk, formerly Rag N’ Bone, is an alternative/post-punk band from Perth, Australia. Time and Memory is their second album. The album addresses issues like patriarchal injustice and toxic masculinity.

I started this site as an experiment. I’ve been involved in music in some way or another my whole life. Anecdotally, my mother put speakers to her belly when I was still in the womb.
This is our first year and I haven’t been able to devote as much time to this site as I would have liked. Rest assured, this will be a priority in 2022 and moving forward.

I devote a great deal of my time to Play Alone Records and my professional career. I am working toward a future where my professional career and music intersect, and I can support myself with the love of music alone and with helping newer, younger bands.

Please bear with us as we figure it all out. We will continue to try to bring you the best post-punk albums, singles, and bands into the future. Hopefully, you, kind reader, get something from this site and what we are working towards.
