Darkwave Single “Son” by Child of Night
Darkwave group, Child of Night, drop their second single, “Son,” today, from their greatly anticipated debut album, The Walls At Dawn. “Son” is at the same time a driving uplifting synth opus, while still being eerie and unsettling. The chorus rings out with multiple voices, to be sung along to by everyone at a live show.
“Son” is my favorite track off of the exception lineup of sons on the LP.

The lyrics of “Son” are about getting really frustrated and leaving society to start a cult that goes on to kill the rich. Who isn’t feeling that at the moment with the shenanigans of the crazy billionaires in the world? Where do I signup?

Son Video
The video for “Son” certainly interplays with the subject matter and leaves you with a sense of unease. It left me with the same sense of cosmic dread that you would get from reading something by Lovecraft. The idea of learning secret knowledge, but learning too much and being doomed by your own curiosity.
The video was written and directed by James Quinn. It stars Christain Holzmann as the cult leader.
Child of Night Background
Child of Night was originally a darkwave duo comprised of Jonathan Thompson & Tristan Wolfe. They started in Columbus, Ohio, back in 2017. Around that time they released two EPs, Breathless and Neither of These Alone Is Enough. Vocalist Niabi Aquena joined the group during the summer of 2020.
