Ode to the Quiet – Island – Single
Ode to the Quiet is an ambient stargaze band from the Netherlands.
Ode to the Quiet – Island Lyrics
Whispers overseas drew us here
They’ve been taking up all our time
The longing was too hard to bear
It made us want to leave
Ode to the Quiet’s Point of View
Ode to the Quiet believes existence is non-linear. The events in our lives, from making friends to falling in love to the losses we suffer, these things are all captured and stored by our subconscious. As we move through our lives these experiences become contorted, modified, and aplified. They unfold again, countless times, whether they come back as memories, deja vu, yearning, or dreams.

Ode to the Quiet – The Drift
Ode to the Quiet’s second album, The Drift, explores this multidimensional idea of reality with atmospheric songs that dissolve the boundary between electronic and organic sounds. Lyric and musical elements return several times to connect the songs meaningfully.
For this album, the band has collaborated with producer Johannes Berglund, who has worked on The Knife’s groundbreaking masterpiece Shaking The Habitual and albums by Fever Ray and Ane Brun. In addition to hints of those artists, I also get hints of School of Seven Bells or Bat For Lashes. With The Drift, Ode to the Quiet harnesses the magic and truth behind the impermanence, the subconscious, and regaining awareness of ones self, space, time, and the universe.
Band Brief History
Ode to the Quiet is the follow-up of Mary Had a Little Band, but sonically different. The agreeable musicians decided to change tack in 2012. It was at that time they started working on something more challenging without preconceived notions around what they would sound like.
The chemistry between the three leads them to write and arrange in a more experimental way. This drew them to new forms and ways of creating musical landscapes, now further from composing traditional pop songs. The result was the band Ode to the Quiet and their debut self-titled album in 2013.
